Celia Schaefers — HTGAA Spring 2026

About me
Celia Schaefers is a second-year undergrad at William & Mary studying computer science and applied math. She does computational research related to bacteriophage and other mobile genetic elements. This includes contributing to pipelines for phage identification (in metagenomics) and assembly, and using AlphaFold and Foldseek to identify conserved structural domains and potential functional mechanisms in phage proteins. Given her more computational background, Celia is excited to learn more about synthetic biology and gain more wet-lab experience through this course.
