About me

Roberto Gallo is a designer, educator, and entrepreneur focused on digital fabrication, advanced manufacturing, and technology-driven innovation. With over a decade of experience working at the intersection of design, engineering, and education, he has played a key role in developing Fab Labs, maker spaces, and distributed manufacturing initiatives in Ecuador and across Latin America, Ecuador.

He is the founder and director of ZOI, a multidisciplinary studio and Fab Lab dedicated to digital fabrication, automation, robotics, and applied research. Through ZOI, Roberto leads projects that integrate CNC machining, robotic arms, 3D printing, electronics, and AI-powered workflows for both educational and industrial applications.

Roberto has been actively involved in the global Fab Lab network and is a long-time instructor of the Fab Academy program, where he has mentored students in digital fabrication, rapid prototyping, and computational design. His academic and professional work emphasizes hands-on learning, open technologies, and the transfer of knowledge from global innovation ecosystems to local contexts.

His interests include robotic manufacturing, parametric design, distributed production systems, and the strategic use of technology to strengthen education, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development.
