About me
I am Tammy, great to meet you! I am a conservationist and volunteer in my spare time at my local greenspaces, and enjoying learning about species identification whilst enjoying the beautiful breeze, landscape and bird song. I found a wonderful and welcoming community called LifeFabs who held a Powered by Phytoplankton biosensor workshop for measuring water quality by a great biodesigner, Maria Li, after which I discovered HTGAA! I majored in Biology. My dissertation focused on the plight of the feisty, eccentric and resilient Tasmanian devil, currently afflicted by a transmissible cancer DFT1 and DFT2 and how knocking out Beta-2-microglobulin on the MHC class I complex may propel the immune evasion of the cancer. I used SnapGeneViewer and Crispr Cas-9 for making the sgRNAs! I enjoyed learning about how bioinformatics and biotechnology can be used in my degree but I wanted to explore deeper, and with great gratitude to the kind HTGAA team, I got into this wonderful course!
