Jay Handfield — HTGAA Spring 2026
About me
I am based in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina. My background is in math and programming, but I have always been fascinated by biology. I am hoping this course and my membership in the Triangle DIY Biology group and lab will allow me to learn enough to let me contribute to interesting applications of synthetic biology and bioengineering. I am especially interested in approaches that can reduce the expense of bioengineering at scale in order to unlock the potential of biotechnology to have beneficial impacts on the world.
