One aim is to reduce the amount of chemicals present in the air that can occur during work in factories. There are chemical contamination in industrial areas with heavy duty work and we can use biofilters to keep these in check by using engineered living material . We can test this in labs with local bacteria and use microorganisms and we will test the efficiency with different microbes that the lab will allow for. The bio filtration will use good bacteria that will naturally degrade these pollutants that can be found in specific locations or self heal concrete using Bacillus subtilis spores. Also known as bioremediation which refers to bacteria taking in or digesting the harmful pollutants that can cause harm to us and the environment. We can also use stable isotope probing where we can experiment with a common atom and if that is detected in the bacteria, we know that it is effective. DNA or RNA sequencing can be helpful
This is environment friendly and a sustainable way to make sure the areas that are contaminated can be fixed naturally which can help us.
