Individual Final Project

HTGAA 2026: Final Project Selection
Hey there! Welcome to the BioLoop Engine 🌱
You know how we see tons of agricultural waste—like fruit peels or leftover crops—just rotting away in the streets or fields? It’s a huge problem, and honestly, it always felt like a massive waste of potential to me.

I really wanted to build something to actually fix it. That’s how the idea for BioLoop was born!
Think of it like a smart recipe generator, but for biology. If you have a bunch of, let’s say, mango peels, you just type that into the app. The AI then acts like a detective: it searches through biological databases to find the perfect microscopic “Pac-Man” (an enzyme) that loves to break down those specific peels. Once it finds it, the system automatically writes the exact DNA “instruction manual” so we can build that enzyme in the lab.
The best part? I didn’t want this to be some expensive, secret corporate tool. It’s completely open-source. The goal is to make it super easy for anyone, anywhere, to turn their local organic trash into valuable, eco-friendly products!
📄 Part 1: Project Proposal & Validation
This is where I put all the official, nerdy details of the project: the biological validation, the data, how much it costs, and the bioethics behind it.
---🔬 Part 2: How the Magic Happens (Step-by-Step)
Curious about how we actually go from typing “mango peels” on a computer to getting a real DNA sequence? This section breaks down the entire process from the software code to the actual lab work.
