What you would like to biomanufacture and why ?
Biomanufacture modified bacteria that are capable of bioremedating a wide set of pollutants and/or wastes (such as oil spills which happen a lot more than people think and cost lots of money to fix aside from fines or wastes such as plastics that are unfit to be recycled), this idea interests me because in my work in wet lab I have had lots of buffed up bacteria gobble up other micro orgasims including the target bacteria that I was trying to isolate. so I thought why not put these mighty little guys to work in our favor. The idea of bioremedating using bacteria its self has been implemented before, but never in a mass scale in which companies can totally rely on bcz the orgasim wasn’t genetically modified to be the toughest and/or they haven’t selected an orgasim that can be biomanufactured in scale (or maybe they haven’t made it so it can remain active for a prolonged period of time and that’s done by selecting a specific type of nutrients to be put in the site which we want the bacteria to do the devouring for bioremedation).
What living systems would you use ?
High duribility bacteria that are genetically modified to engulf the wastes we want to get rid off, if we were to select a bacteria for such porpose it would likely be from the pseudomonas genera which just happens to be what probably caused contamination and engulfed my target isolation organism So basically the bacteria either engulfs or releases enzymes(assisted by biomanufactured nutrients which can also act as triggers that tell the bacteria to start eating everything it can) in both cases breaking down waste into simpler chemical forms
How would you use automation ?
Maybe an automated(and ai integrated) system that would match the best bacterial strain for bioremediating a given pollutant or type of waste. And also selects the type of nutrients that fits the bacteria, culture them together, and bag them up so they are ready to export at order
How much would you need to make and how long would it take ?
A- how much ? If the certain bacteria has been identified for the remediation job it can be bagged in cement like bags and shipped out and the amount depends on what needs to me remediated e.g. if there was an oil spill you would need enough to cover the entire contaminated area that’s speaking in up to tons worth of those bags
How long ? The research part of identifying the correct choice of bacteria would take the probably longest time, but populating part wouldnt take as long
What you don’t know ? 1. I don’t know how the the automated system would culture the bacteria and keep them ready to export in bags without the bacteria dieing
2. And im not sure how an automated system would check for the effectivness of the bacteria in remedating the waste
