About me
I’m Disha, a Biotechnology undergraduate fascinated by the idea that biology can be engineered into a manufacturing system. I’m particularly interested in synthetic biology, immunotherapies, and the ways we can program cells to make materials, therapeutics, and other useful products.
My curiosity lies at the intersection of biology and engineering: understanding how we can go from a biological idea to a functioning, scalable manufacturing process. I’ve explored areas including genetic circuits, protein engineering, biomaterials for cancer immunotherapy, and microbial systems through different academic and research projects.
What draws me to biomanufacturing is that it changes the way we think about making things. Instead of simply extracting or chemically synthesizing a product, we can potentially design biological systems to build it for us. I’m excited by the challenge of understanding how to design, control, and eventually scale these systems, and to explore what becomes possible when we start thinking of cells not just as subjects of biology, but as engineers and factories.
