Driven by the intersection of sustainable technology, community kinship, and my African roots, I am pursuing a path in mechanical engineering to help design a resilient, solarpunk future. I believe engineering should be the intersection between machines and creating harmony between technology, nature, and humanity.

Week 1 HW: Final Project Ideas

1. What would you like to biomanufacture, and why? Describe the target product or output you would like to make.
I will biomanufacture a microbial bio-inoculant—a liquid packed with Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR)—to enable phytomining in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The core problem with using plants to clean up copper and cobalt mining tailings is that the metals are tightly chemically bound to the dirt. Plant roots cannot rip the metal away on their own. By brewing specific metal-tolerant bacteria that unlock these minerals from the soil, we solve the main bottleneck of phytomining. This process cleans the barren land while allowing us to harvest the metal-rich plants as bio-ore.This

Final Project
