About me

Hi! I’m Gonzalo Povea, a biomedical engineer from Lima, Peru 🇵🇪, trained at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH) and Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). My work sits at the intersection of engineering, medicine, and design, with a focus on extended reality, medical imaging, 3D printing, and digital fabrication.

Currently, I work as Head Engineer at the Morphological Sciences Innovation Center of UPCH, where I manage the virtual anatomy classroom and coduct innovation and investigation projects related to improve education in anatomy.

I have a strong interest in cancer research 🔬, particularly in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, a disease that a close family member went through. In Peru, opportunities and resources for biomedical research are limited, and so far I have not had the chance to work directly in this field. This course is my way to start: learning how living systems, automation, and fabrication come together, and exploring how accessible tools like desktop 3D printers and open-source lab automation could make cancer research more feasible in resource-limited settings.
