What to biomanufacture and why? I would like to biomanufacture a standardized gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA) product using molecularly defined recombinant gelatin as its starting material. The goal would not simply be to produce recombinant gelatin, but to develop an integrated manufacturing workflow in which recombinant gelatin is produced under controlled conditions and subsequently converted into GelMA through an automated and standardized methacrylation process. The final product would be a more precisely defined GelMA material for tissue engineering and 3D cell culture.
