When oil is extracted it is usually accompanied by gas that is made of methane, methanol, propane, and other gasses that are either flared or go through a gas processing plant where they would clean it up and make LPG, NGL, and other usable products. That process produces CO2 as a core waste, which is usually vented into the atmosphere. This is where our system could work. Acetogenic Bacteria could be the living system that helps us with it. Dealing with gases like methane, oxygen, and carbon dioxide requires precise control to maintain safety and biological productivity, automation handles the tasks that are too fast, precise, or hazardous for human operators. I still don’t really know what would it take to make it at a meaningful scale, but for now I am discovering that it is already done commercially in a couple of places.
