Sergio O. Vazquez-Franco — HTBAA Fall 2026
About me
Hi, I’m Sergio, an industrial designer and design researcher from the Baja California region of Mexico. I studied Industrial Design at Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM), where I started my degree during the pandemic and later did thesis research on industrial design in space exploration, connected to NASA. I also joined a workshop in Japan focused on disaster prevention systems.
I did a MITACS research internship with the Homeware Lab at Simon Fraser University, and I’m now starting my MSc in Interactive Arts and Technology there. My research is on computational nature-inspired design: how the emergence we see in nature can be translated into human experience.
Alongside my studies I’m building Frontier Tech, my own company, where I design products rooted in nature, starting with 3D-printed forms. I’m following this course as a remote listener because I’m curious about how biology and fabrication can come together to make new kinds of objects.
